No escape route for thieves, if you run away from Benue, Buhari will catch you – Governor Ortom tells Suswam

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State tactically disagreed with his predecessor, former governor Gabriel Suswam on the state’s debt profile in his inaugural speech.

Ortom who took the oath of office at exactly 11:40am and delivered his inaugural speech at 1:49pm yesterday, opined that “the obvious debt situation on ground was not the same as N9.3bn presented by Suswam in his handover notes on the eve of the democracy day which excluded the unpaid workers and pensioners salaries,” adding that ‘the huge debt’ shall be verified and disclosed as soon as possible.

The governor who dedicated his victory to God said his administration will strive on a five point agenda which includes agriculture, science and technology, basic education, health among others for the betterment of the people.  “No escape route for thieves. If you run away from Benue and get to Abuja, Buhari will catch you there,” Ortom warned.

Meanwhile, Suswam was said to have jetted out of the state to Abuja midnight of the inaugural ceremony while his deputy, Steven Lawani was also absent from the event.
