Benue: Ortom pledges conducive private sector environment

The Benue State government has pledged to partner with the private sector to identify and exploit areas in which the state has comparative and competitive advantage.

The state will also create a conducive environment for the sector to tap and invest to boost its economy.
Governor Samuel Ortom gave this indication today when officials of AFRIASIA TRANSATLANTIC services Nigeria paid a courtesy call on him at Benue People's House Makurdi.
He said Benue was richly endowed with potentials that when effectively harnessed, would help add value to the economy of the state and promised government's readiness to partner with the firm to invest in the state.

He noted that bamboo which the company was processing into different products was wasting in the state and that he would be happy if it was exploited to boost the economy.

Governor Ortom urged the company to submit its memorandum of understanding for study and subsequent action and stressed the need for youths in the state to key into the administration's vision of embracing ventures that could promote industrialization. Earlier, leader of the delegation and head of investment of the company, Mr.Gossy Ukamwoka said they were in the Governor's office to intimate him of their plan to seek approval to invest in the state through Bamboo processing.

He said they had concluded arrangements to submit their proposals and MOU for consideration.
Mr.Ukamwoka diaclosed that they were already operating in two states of the federation and that when the company fully takes off in Benue, it would generate over 500 employment opportunities for youths.
