Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a group of Chinese companies known as CGC Alliance for the industrial and commercial revitalization of the state.

The foreign firm is expected under the agreement to cover the provision of coal power plant, potable water and irrigation, renovation of agriculture service centers, construction of Makurdi-Guma road as well as reticulation of water in Makurdi, Otukpo and Katsina-Ala. The companies would also build airport, industrial park, sugar cane plantation and refineries.

Ortom, while endorsing the MoU, expressed confidence in the ability of the group to deliver as it had earlier successfully constructed the Otobi and Katsina-Ala water works.

The governor who noted that the state was owing CGC large amounts of money for the two projects executed during the previous administration, appealed for understanding while assuring that his government would do everything possible to honor contractual agreements.

On his part, Managing Director of the Chinese group, Tony Ye, said various companies teamed up under the alliance in order to handle infrastructural projects in the state as contained in the documents
