Benue State in the news: Ten things happening in Benue this Friday

Good morning! Here are ten trending news in Benue State this lovely Friday.
1. A Benue indigene, simply identified as Msugh Daniel was during the week killed by unknown gunmen on his way to Takum LGA of Taraba State for an official assignment.
Daniel, a father of three was reportedly attacked and killed by some person believed to be Jukum natives of the state. The attackers cut off his head and took it away.

2. There’s currently dark cloud in Makurdi, the Benue State capital following the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President of the 8th assembly.  

Earlier, there was celebration in the town of Benue, especially among Tiv natives following the endorsement of Lawan and Akume as Senate president and deputy senate president respectively.
IDOMA VOICE checks reveal that feelings in town of Benue is that is anger and despair following the defeat of the ex Benue governor.

3. Former Senate President, David Mark was during the week elected as Leader of the Senate. Mark, a former soldier who has been spearheading the affair of the national assembly for the past eight years left the front seat for Bukola Saraki. He would now contribute to issue from the middle seat.

4. Peoples of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo constituency have called for the removal of the lawmaker representing the area, Anthony Hassan Saleh.
Some constituents who aired their views with our reporter noted that the best thing the judge would have done was to ask PDP and INEC to conduct fresh elections within 90 days to allow the people chose who they really wanted to represent them in the House of Representatives.
According to therm, the dashing out of victory to Saleh without election by the people is an infringement on their constitutional right to elect their representative.

5. Former Benue State governor, Geroge Akume as described the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President total rubbish. Akume, who gunned for the deputy senate presidency said the election was conducted in crude manner and should me annulled as soon as possible. 

6. A police officer and an Army Lance Corporal were, recently ambushed and killed by gunmen near Zaki Biam in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that they were members of Benue State Special Anti-Robbery Squad code-named Operation Zenda, who were on routine assignment in the area.According to sources, the deceased were killed while on their way to a crime scene after receiving a distress call, but were ambushed by a gang of armed men, who opened fire on their vehicle.

7. Elder statesman and former commissioner of police in Lagos State, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has flayed the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State over the suspension of some members of the party.

He described the action as, “political intimidation which tantamount to comedy of error.
The APC had in a radio broadcast announced the suspension of former Senator Joseph Waku, immediate past House of Representatives member for Makurdi/Guma federal constituency, Barr. Emmanuel JIme and 10 others from the party on issue bothering on anti-party activities.

8. Music star, Imelda J is set to drop a tribute song in honour of Idoma Voice Associate Editor, Ameh Jerry. The song, entitled, Oyine would hit the airwaves in no distant time.

9. Fans of ace gospel music crooner, Chris 'Legendary' Morgan will come face to face with the single in Cyprus for a new dimension and experience of worship.



The epoch-making is slated for the 12th to 14th of this month.

10. In sports, Super Eagles’ midfield marshal, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has described Super Falcons’ striker, Assisat Oshoala as a great girl.
“She’s a great girl,” he said. “I speak with her always on Instagram and I try to encourage her in my own little way - not only her, but the other ones as well.
“And I try to let her know she has the whole country behind her and she should just go on and deal with any defense and try to convert more of her chances.”
