Three suspected kidnappers are cooling their heels in the custody of security operatives after they were apprehended with a Toyota Sienna bus they allegedly snatched from a victim, who was in the trunk of the vehicle yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital.

National Mirror gathered from sources that the victim whose identity was given as Mrs. Susan Audu, lives beside Modern Market and was coming out from her compound when the gang intercepted and dispossessed her of her car, and bundled her into the vehicle.

The source disclosed that as the suspects zoomed off with their victim, the woman started shouting and struggling, an effort that attracted Okada riders, who mobilised and chased them until they were caught at a Nigerian Air Force base security checkpoint in the state. National Mirror learnt it took several hours for security operatives to come to the rescue of the woman.

Speaking on the incident, Benue State police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Austin Ezeani, confirmed the incident, saying three suspects have been arrested in connection with the matter.

The police spokesman said a team of suspected kidnappers numbering five attempted to kidnap the woman but that luck ran out of three of them while the remaining two fled. He said frantic efforts are being made to bring them to book.

The image maker gave the identity of the suspected kidnappers as Joseph Emeka, whom he noted was a military deserter who fled from the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East; he was apprehended with a revolver pistol and eight rounds of ammunition.

Others include Oscar Ezeala and Sunday Nnemeaka while the other suspect whose names is withheld is an army lance corporal serving at the 82 Division of the Enugu military cantonment.
He however said a report has been lodged with the military in the state and that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
