Men of the Nigerian Army yesterday allegedly invaded the residence of notorious bandit in Benue popularly known‘Gana’ and reduced it to rubbles.

It was learnt that the invasion of Gana’s hideout by the soldiers followed a tip off that his gang was responsible for the killing of a Lance Corporal army officer of 72 Special battalion and a police Sergeant attached to 13 Mopol Unit in Ukum last week.
Sources from Zaki-Biam told our Correspondent that the armed gang has been operating along Zaki-Biam/Katsina-Ala road and were also alleged to have attacked the troops on patrol on their way to respond to distress calls from civilians in the town last Tuesday.

The military in its effort to track down the killers of the soldier and a mobile policeman, invaded the camp of the gang located within Gbishe settlement area at kilometer 40 along Katsina-Ala-Takum road, in Katsina Ala.

The source disclosed that at the time the Military men stormed the hideout, Gana and his members had escaped while his wife who was left behind was said to have been apprehended.
When contacted, Benue State Police command spokesman, ASP Austin Ezeani who declined comment on the matter explained that he could not speak for the Military adding that the state police command was also looking for ‘Gana’
