Ortom reveals how visit to Israel changed his life

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has promised to support this year’s Christian pilgrimage exercise.
According to a statement from the Commission’s media unit in Abuja yesterday, Ortom made the pledge the Government House, Makurdi, while playing host to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara, and his team who were in the state for a sensitisation.

The statement said Ortom noted that “pilgrimage is a faith enriching exercise and the state government will do everything possible to make 2015 pilgrimage exercise a success.”
He said: “The visit to the Holy sites we read in the bible elevates our faith. “Indeed my visit to Israel blessed my life and gave me a lot of testimonies.”

The statement added that the governor commended the executive secretary for the giant strides and innovations he had brought to bear since he assumed office, saying “we know what pilgrimage use to be in Nigeria and we can now see how you have taken NCPC to the world map.”
He prayed that God will give Opara enablement to continually be a blessing to Nigeria, especially the Christian community.

Earlier, the NCPC boss commended the governor for bringing investors to empower the economy of the state and to bring Benue state to a face lead, saying “it is God who has brought you to office and he will provide everything you need to run this office.”

Opara urged the governor to encourage people who are financially buoyant to sponsor Christians who are spiritually rich but materially poor to the Holy Land and that “this is the only way we can encourage Christian who are faithful.”
