Gunmen numbering about 20 suspected to be thugs, Sunday morning, broke into a Benue State High Court premises making away with a 60 KVA Marapco generator.
The men were also reported to have beaten the security guard on duty, Mr Francis Ataa to a pulp and tied him up with ropes as they drove off in a hilux van.

Narrating his ordeal to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ataa who had since been rushed to the hospital, said that the men came in SARS uniforms and started asking him for a file.
He said that he did not answer them since he did not know where files were kept so they pounced on him and started beating him, while some of them were breaking the door of Court 2 registry.

He stated further that they succeeded in breaking into the Court 2 and scattered everywhere, adding however that he did not know if they took any file before they zoomed off with the generator.
NAN reports that the two National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunals are also situated in the premises attacked by the hoodlums.

When contacted, the Tribunal Secretary, Mr Surajo Gusau told NAN that the Tribunal Secretariat was not tampered with, saying that all documents in their possession were intact.
Also speaking to NAN, the Chief Registrar of High Court, Mrs Josephine Ayua declined comments on the matter, saying that she was not ready to speak on the incident yet.

However, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Austin Ezeani said that he had not been briefed on the matter but promised that the police would always take appropriate actions if any case is reported.
