The Makurdi Magistrate's Court has remanded three persons in prison custody for allegedly killing a 75-year-old farmer.
Iornongo Uhende, James Uma and David Uhende, all of different addresses in Makurdi, were remanded for the alleged offence which prosecution said offended Section 97 and 222 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue State 2004.

The Police Prosecutor, Patrick Sunday, told the court that the case was reported by one David Ihembe of Nyiman Layout, Makurdi, at 'B' Division police station on August 15.

Sunday said that Ihembe reported that the victim, Joseph Usom, who was his brother, was shot and killed in his compound at Nyiman Layout, Makurdi, by the accused persons, he said.

He further said that, the victim’s son, Terzungwe Usom, witnessed the incident and identified the accused persons.
Sunday said that during police investigations, the accused persons were arrested and that they confessed to committing the crime with three others who were now at large.

When the case came up for mention, the plea of the accused persons were not taken because the prosecution told the court that investigation was still ongoing to apprehend the other suspects and prayed the court for another date for mention.

The Magistrate, Theresa Wergba, ordered the remand of the accused and adjourned the case to November 10 for mention.
