News from Benue: 10 things happening in Benue State this Thursday

Good morning! Here are ten things trending in Benue State this Thursday morning.

1. There are indications that Chief Audu Ogbe, would be appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to head the ministry of Agriculture. Ogbe, a former chairman of the PDP was nominated by the president as one of the persons to make up his cabinet.

2. A 24-year-old Richard Terfa of Gaadi village, Makurdi, who stole a car stereo, on Tuesday opted for six strokes of cane after he could not raise a fine of N2, 000 ruled as an option by a court in Makurdi.
A Makurdi Magistrates’ court on Tuesday ordered that Terfa who admitted stealing a car stereo, be given six strokes of cane.

3. Natives of Idoma, the second largest ethnic group in Benue State have outrightly kicked against the decision of the Election Petition Tribunal siting in Makurdi to uphold the election of immediate past Senate President, David Mark. The constituents insist they were tired of Mark who has done much or nothing as the leader of he Idoma community.

4. Comrade Daniel Onjeh of All Progressives Congress has kicked against the  dismissal of his case against David Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Onjeh had approached the court, seeking the dissolution of Mark's fifth term election on the term that the contest was massively rigged in his opponent's favour. 

5. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today have given the assurance that payment of salary arrears will soon commence stating that the states’ bailout package was undergoing final processing at United Bank for Africa, UBA, for state workers and Fidelity Bank for local government staff.

6.A group known as Idoma Youth Forum (IYF) has said that the constant media attacks on the former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, is unwarranted despite his selfless service to the nation.
The forum, in a statement jointly signed by its President and Secretary General, Messrs Paul Audu and Ocheme Agada respectively, expressed optimism that the antecedents of the former minister would vindicate him.

7. The people of Ogbadibo in Benue State have been charged to take advantage of the politics of  development and unity which is operational in the All Progressive Congress, APC and queue behind the ruling party to help achieve its goals. An opinion leader and former House of Reps Aspirant for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Fed Const under PDP, Sir Anthony Abutu Okwori gave this charge on Friday when he led several  of his supporters into the ruling APC at Obu Otukpa, the headquarters of Ai-Oono ward 3 in Ogbadibo LGA.

8. A group of young persons from Ogbadibo, the country home of Chief Audu Ogbe has passed a vote of confidence on the ministerial nominee. The group in a statement issued Wednesday described Ogbe's nomination as a welcome development.    

9.Front man of Agila Carnival, Prince Edwin Ochai has explained that the purpose of the carnival was to create an atmosphere of fun for the community and Idoma nation at large, to promote the social and cultural heritage of Idoma land and to tell the world the problems that are confronting Agila community.

He made this disclosure at the unvieling of the yearly event in Makurdi, Benue State.
