Governor of Benue State between 2007 and May 2015, Gabriel Suswam was Monday arrested by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During a conversation with SaharaReporters, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren revealed that Suswam was interrogated from 10 AM to about 7 PM that day.
According to him, the interrogation focused primarily on the wrongful diversion of public funds and questionable financial transactions while he was in office.

“(Suswam) was invited by the EFCC in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation in Benue State.” He said.
Suswam was thereafter released on administrative bail but could be invited back for further questioning.

The former Governor was not the only member of his administration brought before the EFCC. The commission also interviewed Suswam’s former finance minister, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia, on October 9th, 2015 with the goal of procuring further evidence against Suswam, according to sources.
