An attempt by a gang of four suspected kidnappers to kidnap the immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro and a housewife/business woman who is the wife of an INEC electoral officer has been foiled by the Nigerian police in Ugbokolo.

In a statement released through Jerry Agbo the Personal Assistant to the former Minister, Moro said the presence of the suspects led by a young man simply identified as Adoyi was first noticed by the eagle eyes of the Jericho road, Ugbokolo vigilante group.

The  vigilante group, according to the statement requested to know the mission of the occupants of a white Toyota Camry with a golden lining parked opposite the gate of the country home of the former minister at about 11pm.

They said they were out of fuel but strangely requested to know if Comrade Moro was at home.
They then attempted to give money to the men to help them get some cigarettes which the group turned down.

However, luck ran out of the kidnappers, when men of the police force who were combing the area in search of them from their earlier attempt to kidnap the business woman caught up with them.
Upon a  thorough search, guns, dangerous weapons and hoods were discovered in the car. They  were promptly arrested.

It was gleaned from their confessional statements that their targets  were the former Minister, Comrade Abba Moro and the house wife
The statement added that the suspects were the same persons that kidnapped the wife of one Dr.Okoh of Otabo Clinic in Ugbokolo recently.

While  thanking God for His intervention, the former Minister urged all locals and citizens to watch out for suspicious persons and movements and report same to the police and other law enforcement agencies promptly.

The former Minister also  thanked the vigilante group and the Nigeria police for their professionalism, alertness and prompt response to the distress call.

‘I will not be deterred or intimidated  by any person or persons or groups from mobilizing support for the re-election of the former Senate President, Senator David Mark, in his bid to win the rerun election and the realization of the Idoma dream
