The All Progressives Congress, Benue State chapter has strongly condemned the recent attack carried out on ace journalist and publisher of Daybreak newspaper, Prince Sunday Itodo by one of its members.

Mr. Itodo was few days ago attacked by the immediate past caretaker chairman of Ogbadibo LG council, Paul Adoyi over his removal by governor Ortom.

Adoyi who publicly attacked Itodo, claimed the latter was behind his ordeal.

However, the party in a statement by its spokesman, John Ikwulono described the attack as unacceptable, barbaric and wrong and has no place in the Ortom administration that believes in the rule of law and follows the procedure to resolve an issue.
Below is full text of the statement:
“The attention of Benue State chapter of All Progressives Congress( APC), has been drawn to an online publication alleging assassination attempt on an Abuja based Journalist, Yemi Itodo, publisher of Daybreak newspaper by the immediate past caretaker Chairman of Ogbadibo Local government, Hon. Paul Adoyi.

“The journalist in publication equally accused both the governor and APC of siding the culprit (Hon. Adoyi) which is why nothing has been done according to him.

“We wish to condemn in a strong term the lynching of the journalist, the party equally wishes to state here that governor Samuel Ortom who eradicated thuggery and granted amnesty to those in possession of illegal arms didn’t side, and would not side a man with ulterior motives of assassinating anyone as claimed by Yemi Itodo neither will APC side such a man with evil intentions.

“Though the act perpetrated by Hon. Adoyi was wrong, barbaric and unacceptable, but the party should not be linked to the said act, how can the governor or the party be linked to the act when all were in celebration mood inside the Governor’s Lodge Asokoro, Abuja that fateful day shortly after the Supreme Court victory, the party questioned.

“We want to warn here that anyone using the name of APC to forment trouble shall be dealt with according to the law since this administration is a violent free one.”
