The Supreme Court siting in Abuja, Friday dismissed  case brought before it by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the April 11 governorship poll in Benue State, Dr. Terhemen Tarzoor.

His appeal is against the decision of the Court of Appeal, which dismissed his suit and upheld the election of Governor Samuel Ortom.

The seven-man panel of Justices of the apex court, presided over by Justice Walter Onnoghen, its verdict trashed Tarzoor's case, saying that the PDP candidate has no locus standi to challenge Governor Ortom's emergence.

Meanwhile, a development group in Benue state, Benue Vision Four Plus Four, (BVFPF) has vowed not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that the state harnesses the abundant human and material resources it has to bring her people out of the woods.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator and convener, Mr Iorliam Shija, the group disclosed that it will leverage on the social media platforms to monitor and track the activities of the present administration in the state with a view to offering advice and meaningful suggestions where necessary.

“We are a community committed to good governance and societal development. We invite Benue state indigenes, Nigerians and her friends willing to commit their time and resources to the wellbeing of the society to come on board to articulate ways of achieving a better society for all.

“The platform was conceived to ensure that vibrant views expressed on the social media are properly articulated and presented to those in authority as well as interrogate government programmes and policies considered to be anti-people and without development drive’, the statement stressed.

According to him, the forum will also be an avenue to nurture young minds willing to be heard but are not properly guided as they confront issues with hate speeches that have become common placed on the social media.
“…Realising the potency of the social media, we shall explore it as a veritable tool to interrogate the change process in Benue particularly and Nigeria a as a whole but constructively, Shija explained.

“Our vision is to identify and bring to public glare areas the government has done well and commend her if need be and equally criticise and proffer alternative views were necessary. This will definitely serve as a feedback mechanism within the political, economic and social fragments of the Benue citizens, both at home and abroad”.

While we acknowledge that we are in a political era and as humans are liable to share some political sentiments, the group pledge to remain apolitical.

“The government of Governor Samuel Ortom campaigned with specific promises that endeared him to the people. We pledge that we shall at all time keep the government on its toes by ensuring that the promises are kept sacred”, it noted.
