Leaders of various Idoma communities on social media under the auspices of 'Idoma Acholadam' have condemned the various activities of Benue State Government which have perpetually reduced the Idoma people to second class citizens in their own state.

Rising from its annual general meeting last week at Leach Hotel Otukpo, the Youth leaders issued a communiqué on the continuous marginalisation; lack of unity and common goal among Idoma people; social and economic insecurity in the land and the way forward for the Idoma nation.

The Communiqué reads in part: "that Idoma people should strive to forge a common front in whatever they do in order to foster unity among themselves as well as forming a formidable force against external forces.

"In order to ensure certainty of action and easy decision making, idomas must have goals certain, individually and as a group to direct their path in the struggle for emancipation and liberation from marginalisation by our brothers from the other side of the divide".
The Youth leaders also acknowledged the role of social media activism and have adopted it, among others as veritable tools for pressing home their grievances rather than taking laws into their own hands.

"One of the lethal arsenal at our disposal this moment is social media activism, let us therefore use it rightly to emancipate our race from both mental and social slavery.
"Let us harmonise our plans instead of creating room for unnecessary divisions among ourselves. Thus, let us merge all the idoma related Facebook groups. This will ensure oneness in decision making as well as unified strength and courage to protect our identity and chart a course of progress for the idoma nation.

" To this end, we commend all the admins of 'Idoma People of Nigeria IPN', the largest Idoma community on social media under the leadership of Comrade Josephine Akioyamen for their consistent efforts at advancing the course of Idoma people and we unequivocally adopt the page as lead group page for all other groups; for unity of purpose and unified direction", the statement reads.
The Youth Activists also bemoaned the disunity among the Idoma elites which they have identified as one of the banes and catalysts for external influences.

In their own words: "Let us all know that there is strength in unity, thereby sacrificing our individual interest at the expense of a wider unity and over all growth of the idoma nation is our unifying factor.
"We must not let whatever happens in our state to demoralise us as a people. Let us know that our brothers are only better than us in numerical strength and not in terms of intellect, competence and know how. We are no way inferior to them, for we are dejure minority but de facto majority in Benue state.

"Let us support ourselves and eschew bitterness, rancour, internal wrangling and pull him down syndrome. If we don't allow our brother to be king, we cannot be termed the king's brother.
"We must learn how to support whoever that is coming up among us, no matter how small the fellow may be. Helping and encouraging young ones to grow is our best legacy in life".

While condemning the spate of killings, robbery, prostitution, divorce, advanced fraud and other social vices in the land, the youth leaders called on the government, security agents, traditional rulers, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to continue to sensitise the youths of Idoma in order to purge the society of the illness.

"We want to use this medium to appreciate our Leader, Comrade Lordsam Ogbole, the President of Idoma National Youths Forum for his tireless efforts in contributing to the social and economic development of the land.

"We also call on him to use his good offices to collaborate with relevant authorities in this great task. At this material time, silent is not golden. All hands must be on deck to effect the desired Change in our land", they said.

On the rumoured revocation of the Federal University of Health Sciences sited in Otukpo by the Buhari administration, the forum lauded the effrontery of the Idoma Corpers for their recent outing in Abuja where they protested to the National Assembly, the Presidency and National Human Rights Commission to register their displeasure over the said revocation.

The Forum however noted with great disappointment that, the Idoma League of Professors are silent over the move by the Federal Government and promised they would do everything possible to support the movement already established by the Idoma Corpers under the leadership of Comrade Pelo Anawo.

While appreciating the Idoma chaps who have put in their best to make the whole world read about the happenings in Idoma land through online portals, the forum also passed a vote of confidence on IPN News, Idoma Voice and DayBreak Newspaper; and unanimously adopted them as official media partners in the struggle for the emancipation of the Idoma people.

Speakers at the event include Engr. Dan Atayi Edache, the moderator and Coordinator of New Idoma Nation group; Prince Yemi Itodo, foremost Youth Activist and Crusader of the emancipation of Idoma people; and Comrade Pelo Anawo, Coordinator of Idoma Corpers.

Others include Barrister Steven Ogbole Agida, Lagos based Human Rights Activist; Comrade Iwodi Friday Adogo, Social Activist and Chairman, IwodiAdogo Oil & Gas Ltd; Hon. Gabriel Olofu, Social Activist and former Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Council; among others.
