Paul Adoyi after my life - Sunday Itodo raises alarm

Written By Idoma Television on Friday, January 15, 2016 | 10:00:00 AM

Ace journalist and publisher of Daybreak Newspaper, Sunday Itodo has narrated how he was nearly hacked to death by some political thugs allegedly working for the immediate past caretaker chairman of Ogbadibo LGA, Paul Adoyi.

Itodo, a native of Otukpa, in a distress call to DAILY POST claimed that some heavily armed persons trailed him on Friday in Abuja, demanding to know if he was Yemi Itodo.

“The thugs were armed to the teeth and they approached me and asked if I was Yemi Itodo; I told them No,” he told DAILY POST on phone.

Speaking further, the analyst said he was shocked that few minutes later, the former LG boss accosted him and gave him countless punches, accusing him of being the brain behind his removal as the council chairman.

“I was accosted few minutes later by Mr. Paul Adoyi, hitting hard on me and it took the intervention of other journalists from Benue and some aides to the Governor before I was rescued.

“Even at that, the chairman who was sacked a week ago by the Governor for 'gross incompetence' said openly (on records) that I was lucky to have escaped those boys and that he would come for me again.
He quoted the ex- chairman as saying, "I know where you stay and I know how to get you. Stupid boy, you are already in trouble".

“His anger was that I was the architect of his removal. According to him, I was writing stuffs against him on the social media and the Governor removed him based on that,” he added.
Meanwhile, Itodo said he had reported the case to the security operatives.

However, several calls to the ex-chairman were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

Our attention have been drawn to a recent posted by one Yemi Itodo on his Facebook wall in which he alleged that an assassination attempt was made on his life by a group he alleged were sent by Hon Paul Adoyi. We wish to categorically state that this allegation is not only false but an attempt to bring the hard earned reputation of Hon Paul Adoyi to public ridicule just to gain cheap popularity.
While the Constitution of our country guarantees freedom of speech, we take exception to the use of such freedom for the ultimate aim of destroying the character of another individual.
We advise Hon Paul Adoyi to commence legal proceedings against Mr itodo. We also wish to urge the general public to be weary of disgruntled personalities like Itodo and platforms like Idoma Voices and Day Break who have turned the social media to an avenue of blackmail and slander.
