Your people no longer want you, withdraw from rerun now - Ortom tells Mark

Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue State has urged former Senate President, David Mark to withdraw from the re-run poll in the Benue North senatorial district to avoid defeat, reports New Telegraph.
The governor made the called on Wednesday during the expanded caucus meeting of the APC in the senatorial district.

He noted that Mark should humbly withdraw from the race and save himself the humiliation of a crushing defeat.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the state capital, had on November 28, 2015 nullified the election of Mark as the senator representing the district in the Senate.

The court in its ruling on the appeal by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Daniel Onjeh, ordered a re-run within 90 days.
Ortom said the re-run election was one that pitches the former Senate President and his personal ambition against the people and their desire to be part of the change agenda of the APC.

He wondered why Mark, who had always argued for the people to remain in the mainstream of the nation’s politics, could now turn round to coerce them to do what would afflict them politically and economically.
