Over 300 persons have been reportedly killed and many houses razed as suspected Fulani militias have continued to bombard communities in Agatu LGA of Benue State.

According to eye witnesses, the gunmen had already torched Akwu and Adagbo communities as at Tuesday night and were heading towards Ayila village.

It was also revealed that the invaders received reinforcement and supplies via two helicopters and despite the heavy gunshots, no military or any security presence could be felt.

Former Senate President, David Mark Who confirmed the incident via his official twitter account condemned the attacks and called on the federal government and relevant security agencies to intervene.
“I have just received reports of an ongoing attack on the people of Agatu by an ‘army’ of over 300 militants.

“I call on the Federal Government and all relevant security agencies to immediately intervene in the ongoing attacks on Agatu.
“The unprovoked attacks on the people of Agatu fueled by political interests from outside Idoma land is worrisome and condemnable.” He tweeted.
