Journalist detained for attacking Benue governor on Facebook

Written By Idoma Television on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 | 1:08:00 AM

A Benue journalist, Bemgba Iortyom has been arrested and detained by men of  the state anti-robbery squad Monday morning in Makurdi, the state capital.
His detention may not be unconnected to a libellous publication on
Facebook against the state government.
A few days earlier, Mr Iortyom who is been notorious for feisty anti-government commentary shared a publication from zebrareporters.com in which various grave allegations were made of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and several members of his cabinet.

Concerned social media enthusiasts who visited the police station to register their displeasure were told the state commissioner of police was not on seat.

Meanwhile, Mr Iortyom’s lawyers have vowed to file a lawsuit if their client is not released or granted bail tomorrow.
The government has remained silent over the issue.

Nigeria is evil forest. Where the righteous are being punished in the place of the evil ones. Director Nnamdi Kanu is extra-judicially, unlawfully in detention despite court orders for release because he spoke the truth in a 99 percent corrupt country. He said that Buhari is paedophilia. But is he not a paedophilia? He said that Buhari is terrorist. But Buhari, are you not a terrorist? I thought he should have been charged to for those things instead of charging for what he has not done and framing evidence and buying false witnesses against him. Nigeria is indeed a ZOO.
