Okpotuche Club gets new chairman as Ignatius Ayegba bows out (PHOTOS)

Respected Idoma social club in Lagos, Okpotuche has elected a new chairman.
This came following the expiration of the tenure of Chief Ignatius Ikwuoche’s led exco.
The election took place on Sunday in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital and conducted by Mr.  Mike Ogbanje and Tony Abah Ekre, immediate past President on Idoma students in UNILAG .

Two candidates were earlier nominated for the chairmanship position. The nominees were Sunday and Charles Onum.

Abah polled 16 votes to defeat his opponent, Charles Onum to emerge winner.

Interestingly, Victor Aije and Emmanuel Aije were voted as Vice Chairman and General Secretary unopposed respectively.

Tina Abutu and Attah Ogbu were nominated for the post of Assistant General Secretary. During the election, Ogbu polled 17 votes to defeate Abutu who only scored 3 votes.

Sunday Ayegba was elected unopposed as Financial secretary while Hellen Ameh was elected as his deputy.

Pauline Smith was elected unopposed as Treasurer while vibrant and active Tina Abutu was retained as the club’s Provost.

Drama played out when chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Ogbanje called for nomination for the post of Provost, enthusiastically, all the club members all chorused, Tina, Tina, Tina, Tina.

Barrister Ejembi was voted as Assistant Provost after polling 17 votes to defeat his opponent, Charles Onum.

The post of PRO/Social Director went to Charles Onum who floored Emmanuel Udeh with 16 votes.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing chairman, Chief Ignatius Ayegba charged the incoming ex-co to keep the dream of the club alive.

Ayegba, a native of Orokam whose exco assumed power in 2012 took
time to highlight some achievements of his administration.

On his part, the new chairman thanked members of the club for deeming him fit for the prestigious position. Abah called on members of the club for support for his new exco.

Abah is a native of Orokam in Ogbadibo LGA.
