In the word of Ralph Waldo Emerson, nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
He opined that it was the enthusiastic attitude that places a leader above his peers, opens his mind to creativity and provides motivation to his people.

This explains the personality trait, ingenuity and rich democratic credential of the Man Chief Audu Ogbeh whom many describes severally as a proverbial cat with nine lives and   who have little or no use for fame as well as notoriety.  Ogbeh it was generally believed is consumed with productivity not image. He does not feel the need to project  his self-worth to any one, He is content when the moment calls for him to be little, or ordinary, or common as long as the goal was  achieved.

Ogbeh  a former Minister of Communication under Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari’s  Administration  first came to lime light haven been  elected   deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly in the Second republic representing Otukpa State constituency.

The calmness with which Ogbe handled the  lost  of the exalted position of Speaker of the  Benue State Hause of Assembly to Mr Ayua Num  a Tiv even after a tacit understanding of an Idoma( Ogbe)  holding sway does not only demonstrate his maturity and rich democratic  credential as a Democrat/Statesman but reveal the callousness of the game of politics and the tyranny of the majority ethnic group in Benue State politics.

Ogbeh’s compassion and deep respect for the human person regardless of their background is legendary and widely acclaimed. It was the sterling leadership qualities, humility, meekness, personal charisma, dexterity and sagacity that informed the election of Ogbe as the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party PDP by fellow party men after haven previously ousted it protem and second Chairmen Chief Solomon Lar and Engr. Banabas Gemade in quick succession and in controversial   circumstances.

Ogbeh  an integrity personified could not condom the arbitrary use of raw power and disrespect for rule of law by the then president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as he honorably  bow out of  power by throwing in the towel as PDP  National Chairman following  irreconcilable differences with the president which principally borders on, ethics, principles and deliberate manipulation of party men and negative application of the use of power.

His resignation even though ill-timed was greeted with mixed reaction and feelings with many hailing his decision as the step in the direction and coming at a time when the ovation was  loudest.

A one time presidential Adviser on Agriculture soon after his resignation parted ways  with the PDP  and joined forces with  other genuine democrat and progressive to register a political association known as the  Advanced Congress of Democrat. (ACD) the party later merged with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)with other progressives in ANPP, CPC, a faction of APGA  and finally metamorphosed into  a mega political party  the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Given Ogbeh’s intellectual endowment he was saddled with the responsibility of drawing up the party’s manifesto and blue print a task that effectively saw the light of day.  His resilience, patience, courage, commitment, dedication and his  abiding faith in the Nigeria project paid off with the eventual emergence of General  Muhammadu  Buhari  as president  under the platform of the APC.

Ogbeh  who  Undertook the task of marketing Buhari abinitio within the party diverse interest prio to the presidential primaries of the APC ensures and perfected  the victory of GMB who  defeating well known   presidential aspirants like Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar(Turakin Adamawa),incumbent Governor of Kano State   Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Rochas Owelle Okorocha of Imo State and News paper Publisher Nda  Sam Isaiah to pick the sole presidential ticket of the phenomenal movement called APC .

He rallied and canvassed support of  all Nigerian to vote for GMB  an appeal that has yielded the desired result with the declaration of General Muhamadu Buhari as the winner of the March 28TH presidential election by INEC defeating the incumbent president His Excellency Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan  in an election  widely acclaimed by both local and international  observers as freest, fairest,  credible and unprecedented  in the  chequered  political  history of  Nigeria.

As one of his ardent follower and fan who has  followed his  (public and private Life (antecedent) with keen interest,  one of  the greatest attributes of Ogbe  to me are listening, patience, humility, writing, reading  voraciously and  power of retention and promotion of  friendship.

He has profoundly touched the lives of so many people and has made a significant difference in many of those life, be it through mediating in conflict or by helping to maintain the thin socal fabrics that conflict so often tear apart.

Another hallmark of Ogbeh that endeared him to me is his unpretentious disposition toward unhealthy and uncultured social canker worm called corruption that had eaten deep into the fabrics of our social lives, he believes that for true democracy to take a firm root, development and people oriented project to take place all forms of graft must be stamped out.

Ogbeh a dogged democrat, a pillar and symbol  of democratic  tolerance in modern Nigeria  who have  caved a niche for him self as thorough breed democrat and  who has at various occasion advocated for the need for peaceful and harmonious co-existence, unity, rancor free and egalitarian society  were you are judged  based on the contents  of your character rather than primordial, ethnic, tribal and parochial sentiment.

Ogbeh  an orator of  no mean repute  has inspired his audience and numerous followers  with his sense of humor, He has championed the crusade for team work and dialogue  as a veritable tools   for social, religious, cultural and political stability which are the hallmark and ingredients of development   of most  advanced countries world over .  In all this discipline, integrity, respect for human right and privileges  remains his   overriding principle   both in public and private lives.

His commitment to food security and passion for agriculture inspired him to float  his personal farm in makurdi the Benue State capital and other part of Nigeria were thousand of youths were  employed. As an uncommon democrat/Statesman  per  excellence, i salute his passion, courage and faith for staying afloat and focused in pursuits of his vision and dream  irrespective of enormous opposition, confrontation and challenges bedeviling his quest toward realizing his noble dream and objectives.

My  sincere prayer is that may the almighty God continue to bless him with good and sound health, understanding, wisdom to weathered the storms of life and enable him to  continue to contribute his quotas through wise counsel  to the incoming government of General Muhhamadu Buhari and to hand over  to the next generation an egalitarian society were history, humanity and posterity will be just, fair and kind to him.

I urge all well meaning sons and daughters of Idoma irrespective of party affiliation, religious inclination, social stratification, cultural identity and economic standing/pedigree to pray for the President elect to lead us to the promise land were milk and honey flows  and were insurgency has no place, unemployment remains a stranger and were corruption is banished for good.

Chief Audu Ogbeh has also assured Idoma youths protesting the killing of their kith and kin of a lasting solution to the recurrent crises that has claimed thousands of lives and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed through the the importation of grasses for ranches from brazil. kudos the Honorable minister of Agriculture and rural development and the grand patron of Nigerian farmers.
