This was disclosed by Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu yesterday while visiting three of the camps established by the State Government for the internally displaced people.
According to him, as a sign of seriousness in ending the lingering crisis, both Governor Ortom and his Nasarawa State counterpart, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura were going to visit the area to see for themselves the extent of damage caused by the crisis, and also proffer solutions.
He intimated the people of Governor Ortoms efforts in seeking the intervention of the Presidency which had begun yielding fruits as President Muhammadu Buhari not just condemned the disastrous act, but also ordered a full investigation into the crisis.
Earlier, Engr. Abounu expressed sadness that the crisis had persisted in spite of all efforts by the State Government to stop it. He accused the Fulani herdsmen of breaching the agreement reached at the joint Benue/Nasarawa Security Council Meeting which held at Lafia where it was resolved that none of the parties in the dispute should cross to its neighbours side pending the final resolution of the dispute.
The Deputy Governor however called on the people of Agatu to remain calm, assuring that government is determined to do all in its powers to safeguard their lives and properties.
In addition to the food items which consist of bags of rice, garri, salt, Maggi and indomie nodules, Engr. Abounu also gave out cash to a mother with two sets of twins staying at one of the camps.
