Benue Govt to return ownership of mission, other private schools

Benue State Governor are set to return mission and other private schools previously taken over by the government back to their original owners.

This decision was taken yesterday during the 11th State Executive Council meeting presided by the Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu.
Consequently, the Council directed the Commissioner for Education, Prof Dennis Tyavyar to recommend for approval, members of a  high powered committee who will draw up a comprehensive modality to effect the process.

The committee is to be made up of professionals, trade and union leaders, representatives of various  bodies and organisations that are relevant to education sector development.

Similarly, the Council set up another committee comprising Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Targema Tarkema; Chief of Staff (COS), Terwase Orbunde; Arttoney General and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa; Special Adviser to the Governor on Assembly Matters, Moses Odum and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, Sarwuan Tanongo,  to liaise with Benue State House of Assembly to clear all outstanding executive bills pending at the House with a view to passing them to allow for free flow of government business.

The Council also enlarged the committee already set up to look into the Benue Internal  Revenue Service (BIRS) law with a view to implementing it with human face, with a charge on the committee to carry out its duties with dispatch and carry along all relevant stakeholders.
