In the face of economic hardship and fuel crisis currently plaguing the state of the nation; no fewer than 200 riders of commercial motorcycles popularly known as 'Okada' got their tank filled to the brim, free of charge, in Otukpo at the weekend.

Hardly had the news filtered in, Friday morning that an anonymous Philantropist was doling out Premium Motor Spirit, also known as Petrol for 'Okada' riders; than the Raji Rasaki Petrol Station got filled to the capacity with pump attendants struggling to control traffic of Motorcyclists.

When our Correspondent visited the station out of curiosity to unravel the identity of the anonymous donor, the Manager who simply gave his name as Mr. Joseph disclosed the true identity of the Philantropist and numbers of beneficiaries.

"The Donor is one young man based in Abuja. His name is Comrade John Uttuh. He does this intermittently for Okadas in the past 3 years because he always partners with our station.

"Every time he does it, Okada riders would come in their numbers and fill their tank free of charge and with the help of their Exco, we would be able to control them so that no one takes fuel twice. Only today, about 200 bike men got their tank filled".

When asked if the beneficiaries were aware of the identity of the donor, Mr. Joseph said he was not too sure if they knew. "Ours is to alert the pump attendants that there would be free fuelling for Okadas and as many as the Donor paid for would be exhausted.

But I'm sure the leadership of NIMoTA know the Donor, because they always come ahead of time to help identify genuine members", he added.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our Correspondent, including the Chairman of the Old Park Unit, Simon Abakpa and Secretary, Mohammed Askia, thanked the Donor for always coming to the rescue of Okada riders.

According to them, the Donor was well known to them, even as they refused to disclose his identity to the press.

"We know him, he is our man, so don't ask further question who he is. He has been doing this for us, especially anytime we have fuel crisis and we value him so much.

This is all we can tell you for now, Mr. Journalist", the Chairman said jokingly.

As at the time of filling this report, Comrade John Uttuh, a Chairmanship Aspirant in Otukpo LGC under PDP could not be reached as his cell phone was busy on another calls.

Our Reporter could not also fathom, through an allied of the Chairmanship hopeful, if the exercise would be held anytime soon.
