(OPINION) Benue LG polls: If APC must win in Zone C by Noah McDickson

My recent visit to Benue state to attend the burial ceremony of the mother of Chief Audu Ogbe quickly reawaken my consciousness of the defeat APC suffered in zone C in rerun senatorial elections.

In the course of the trip from Makurdi through Aliade to Otukpo, and stopping over at Ugbokolo before I proceeded to Ogbadibo, posters of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants flooded everywhere.
Permutations and consultations are still in top gear from the aspirants of the two major political parties in the state.  The numerous questions running through my mind is whether APC would survive the political war coming up soon.

How ready is APC in the zone to avert the impending doom? Who is APC political leader in zone C? How prepared is the leadership of the party in zone c? Will the leadership of the party recognised and consult the APC Elders in the zone this time? Should we continue to wallow in political ignorance and risk loosing the election in the zone?

Well, as a concerned elder and stakeholder of the party, I will continue to offer my piece of advise and chart a way forward for the party.
Firstly, my candid opinion is that the leadership of the party must wake up from the slumber to its responsibilities. Battling the giants in PDP is a herculean task for the APC. Therefore, competence and political wisdom must be applied to battle for victory in the zone.

Secondly, APC has no clear and identifiable political leader in the zone. How can a party without a leader win election in the zone that parade influential personalities in the rival political party? APC must choose a leader so that the party could rally round such a personality in crucial elections.
Thirdly, the role of the APC Elders must be recognised as to offer their wealth of experience to the growth of the party. As the saying goes "any village without the elderly is like a well without water". Therefore, the political  quagmire of the party may likely continue if the leadership of the party remain adamant in its resolve against the Elders.

Finally, I must say that the forthcoming elections will determine the success or otherwise of APC in zone C. The party is gradually sinking in the zone. And what that implies is that urgent measures must be taken to reawaken and rekindle the vibrancy of the party before it collapse totally to the oblivion.
God bless Idoma nation.

No headway for impunity and prejudices. APC is a down failure right from the center down to all the component units.
