Governor Ortom’s aide turns office to boxing ring, beats staff to coma

The Magistrate Court 2 in Makurdi town of Benue state presided by Justice Dan Ogo has arraigned an aide to Governor Samuel Ortom, the Executive Secretary  of the Teaching Service Board (TSB), Mr. James Pine, for slapping and beating to coma a staff of the establishment.

According to the first information report, the accused, Pine had on the 11th March, 2016 at the TSB headquarters in Makurdi, slapped severally one James Asema (complainant), pushed him to the ground and beat him to stupor.

LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered at the court that after beating the staff, the accused further forced the transfer of the complainant from the headquarters in Makurdi, to St. Luke’s Secondary school Enugba in Agatu LGA where the Fulani herdsmen have been attacking.

According to Asema, before his forceful transfer, he was the Maintenance Officer of TSB and that he incurred the wrath of his boss when there was power outage from public supply on the fateful day.

He explained that “I had complained to my boss on the dangers of running the independent power plant because there was insufficient fuel. Although the ES obliged my complaint and sent for more fuel and mandated me to report back at 3:30pm to assess generator. To my surprise, the matter took a dramatic turn when I reported at the appointed time but he became furious and assaulted me.”
