Report had it recently that party stakeholders in local government had at a meeting held at Double K Resort, Otukpo made a resolution that Ai-Oono should clan should produce the next LG chairman.
Reacting however, outspoken Ikwuoche it is unacceptable.
He voiced his anger in a statement personally signed and obtained by IDOMA VOICE.
The statement reads in full.
I wish to state unequivocally that the decision purportedly reached at the stakeholders meeting of APC Otukpa bloc, held yesterday Saturday 11th June 2016, at Double K, Hotel, wherein the position of Executive Chairman of Ogbadibo LGC to be elected in 2016, was zoned to Ai-Oono clan, leaves much to be desired.
The so called zoning was done perfunctory without any regard to equitable power sharing among the electoral wards and the various clans which make up Otukpa as a District and Ogbadibo as a whole.
It is wrong, in my view, to have over eight powerful positions in government from Ai-Oono clan, while the rest clans of Ai-Oodo and Ai-Ochagbaha which have the highest voting population are left with nothing. For goodness sake, the Ai-Oono clan currently has the Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Member House of Reps, The state Chairman of the Ruling Party APC, The Education Secretary, The Secretary of the LGC etc etc and the two clans of Ai-Oodo and Ai-Ochagbaha have no stake at all.
From the foregoing, it is clear that the so called decision was ill-conceived and must not be allowed to stand because APC is a party founded on justice, equity, fair play and popular participation and so no person or group of persons should be allowed to undermine those sublime values on which the party stands.
Accordingly, I and my Supporters vehemently reject that unpopular attempt and thus call on the party to conduct a free and fair primary election for all the aspirants who have bought the required interest and nomination forms from the party.
Signed: HON AKOR IKWUOCHE Chairmanship Aspirant From Ai-Oodo Ward 1 Ogbadibo Local Government Area
