I am in Otukpo now attending the burial of the slain Catholic priest of Otukpo Diocese, Rev. Fr. John Adeyi and the complaints coming from several quarters are whether the Benue state House of Assembly is alive to the numerous challenges confronting the state.
As I write this piece, many lives have been lost in Logo, Guma and Okpokwu local government areas respectively.
Yet, the state lawmakers are quiet as though it is well with state. As I witness the final burial of our brother, Rev. Fr. Adeyi, I am forced to ask these questions: What is the state government doing as regard the security of the state?
With over #750m theft hanging on the neck of the state house of assembly, they seemed to be confused with the state of affairs of the state. Why should members be so unconcerned with serious matters of insecurity in the state?
My advise is that most members of the assembly should be recalled because they are obviously not competent enough to take us to the promise land.
Am still surprise that the state Executive is keeping quiet in this show of shame. As an articulate and vibrant member of our great party, APC, I want to humbly call on, all those members involved in the scandal to honourably resign and go back home. Enough of the embarrassment.
I have called on the Governor a couple of times but his aids wouldn't allow him to see anybody.
The problems of non payment of salaries, mismanagement, impunity and looting of the treasury remain an issue.
I therefore call on the state government to be bold enough in telling the leadership of the house to honourably quit. Benue state is in trouble and we must face the realities now or never.
This is not what we promise the people, the people of Benue state are angry and we should not pretend about it.
GOD BLESS BENUE STATE.
