There was confusion in the senate on Tuesday after the senator representing Benue North West Senatorial District; George Akume introduced himself as the senator representing both Benue North West and South West.
Check by IDOMA VOICE shows that former Senate President, David Mark is currently the senator in charge of Benue South after winning the rerun election in February.

However, when Akume rose to speak on the floor during the senate plenary on Tuesday, he said he is representing both senatorial districts.

Mark was however absent on Tuesday.

Expressing his displeasure, ace journalist and national assembly correspondent, Yemi Itodo wondered why Akume could be careless with his words while Mark is still very much alive.
He said, “Even though I said I’m a changed man and would no longer analyse Benue State; when it gets to a point that I can’t keep quiet, I will react.
“My friend Senator George Akume made 2 statements about 4 minutes ago on the floor of the Senate and I can’t keep quiet. Walahi I will follow him to his office at the end of the plenary and bare my mind.
1. The Distinguished Senator while introducing himself said he is representing Benue North West and Benue South (Idoma People). I need more explanation to this.
2. The Senator also said something while supporting the motion on the plight of IDPs in the North East Nigeria, he said and I quote “the problem in the northeast was more monumental than that of Benue State”. This he said in defence of the reason why he sent 3000 tubers of yam to the IDP camp in Borno state but didn’t send any tuber to Agatu IDPs camp.
