I will pay you whenever I have money – Ortom tells Benue teachers

on

Governor Ortom says no wage or compensation will be enough for the sacrifices made by those who have chosen the teaching profession in the training and moulding of characters at different stages of education.
He states that the strength of every society lies in its standard of education which is driven by the quality of its teachers.

According to the Governor, the theme of this year’s World Teachers’ Day which is ‘Valuing Teachers, Improving their Status’ is appropriate as it has further drawn the attention of nations to the significant role teachers play and the need to improve their working conditions and treat them with greater respect.
Governor Ortom assures that his administration will continue to accord importance to teachers of the state which will manifest in improved payment of their salaries and pensions to those who have retired as well as ensuring that no teacher who is due for promotion is denied the right.
He says the State Government will clear the salaries owed teachers as soon as the funds are available.
This is in line with his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers. The Governor congratulates teachers of the state as they join their counterparts in other states to celebrate the day.
