The Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Adamu Entonu has called on the federal government and security agencies, to as a matter of urgency, come to the rescue of the people of Agatu LGA, which he said are currently sitting on “a keg of gun powder ”
Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, shortly after laying a petition from his constituency to the green chamber; the lawmaker said it was a wicked act for some people to trade a path that would be capable of eliciting crisis in the community.

Entonu said “it is pertinent to bring to the notice of the public, the wicked plan being hatched and perpetrated by blood tasty individuals who want to plunge our community into crisis”.

Speaking further, Hon. Entonu said “the despicable act of ceding Agatu lands to Fulani herdsmen by some self-acclaimed stakeholders in connivance with the State  Governor, Samuel Ortom, is a dangerous act, capable of causing mayhem in the community.

“It is therefore imperative to state categorically that, the entire people of Agatu and the 10 District Heads are calling the attention of security agencies and the federal government, to intervene quickly, before this hideously contrived conspiracy to exterminate the people of Agatu becomes a reality”.

The Lawmaker recounted the ordeals of the Agatu farmers and origins in the hands of the Fulani herdsmen in recent times, where he submitted that over 400 people were killed and countless properties were destroyed.

“Our farm lands were taken from us, our children and women were killed and maimed and our homes desecrated. The traumatic experience is still fresh in the mind of our people; yet, again, evil men and tall liars are at it again”, he said.

Hon. Entonu, while calling on the “self acclaimed” stakeholders in Agatu to desist forthwith, any attempt to cede more ancestral lands of Agatu people to those they refered to as “indigenous Fulanis”; also charged the good people of Agatu to remain calm, as the genuine stakeholders of Agatu would put heads together to see that the purported agreement does not see the light of the day.

“The Caretaker Chairman and some irrelevant self acclaimed stakeholders in connivance with the Benue State Governor recently entered into a despicable transaction, to cede our community to Herdsmen, for grazing purpose.

“It is a tale we wish no man to experience and therefore, we are calling on the Nigerian security agencies and the federal government to quickly intervene, to avert the reoccurrence of the ugly and ungodly incident”, Entonu added.
