The founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman has declared that if he is arrested for speaking against the government, Nigeria will be on fire.

According to him, he has the freed of speech to express his opinion on the state of the nation unperturbed.

The preacher was speaking after a foiled attempt by the Department of the Security Service to arrest him at the wee hours of Tuesday in Ekiti.

Speaking shortly after the drama, Suleman insisted that he would continue to speak against the activities of the Fulani herdsmen, who her said had turned many Christians to orphans.

He said, “These Fulani headmen had turned many Christians to orphans and widowers but the time has come to protect ourselves.

“I received several calls from hidden numbers trying to locate where I am and I had warned my security not to allow any Fulani man to come nearer me.

“So when the men of DSS came in the middle of the night, I knew their mission and I had to call the Governor because if they arrest me, they will put this country on fire,” he threatened.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians have condemned the failed attempt by the DSS to pick up Suleman for his godly stance against the activities of the herdsmen.

Speaking with our correspondent, the senior pastor of Liberty Kingdom Assembly, Chris Ertom described the incident as very unfortunate and a total war on Christianity.

“When has freedom of speech become a crime in Nigeria?  With this, it is glaring that there is plan to wipe of Christianity from the f ace of the country. Any attempt to arrest Suleman would be resisted. Buhari and his government should let Christians be,” he warned.

Similarly, there are mixed reactions on the social media terrain following the alleged attempt to arrest Suleman.

While many Nigerians believe it was a wrong move, other are of the opinion that the recent statement credited to Suleman where he called on his members to kill any herdsmen around as ‘unfortunate’.

A twitter user, @rifasenate said “Nasir el-Rufai is the brain behind this. They are quick to arrest anyone that makes statements against the Fulanis but fail to address their incessant killing of innocent villagers. The tide will turn; Nigeria is going to overcome this.

Another Nairalander, Rose54321 said, “This is a very wrong move. This administration keeps messing up every day. Yes, the pastor made an inflammatory statement, but his tone showed it was out of anger. The government seems to be doing nothing absolutely nothing about the killings of Christians by Fulanis.

“Couldn’t the Interior Minister have visited his church to show a sign of respect or the DSS summon him rather than the DSS treating him like a criminal?

“This administration knows no diplomacy; picking up a pastor with so many follwers will just further divide the country.

Though personally I dont like Fayose, but Buhari’s ignorant actions keeps making Fayose the winner in every situation.”

Another twitter user, Adamsj said, “But why did Suleman say his members should kill herdsmen. That statement was uncalled for in the first place. Na them sabi.”
