Second Republic Senator, Jacob Gyado says, he views the large turn out of personalities at the just concluded Benue Stakeholders forum and the encomiums poured on Governor Samuel Ortom as indirect endorsement of his second term.

Senator Gyado spoke to Correspondent Charles Iornumbe against the backdrop of the significance of the stakeholders forum in Makurdi.

He said Governor Ortom’s humility, doggedness and respect for elders as well as determination to correct mistakes of the past have earned him such wide acceptability especially among the elders most of who, despite their health challenges, made out time to attend the forum.
The Senator observed that the Governor’s rising political profile may also have partly been responsible for the large turn out, which,Wanteregh Paul Unongo could not hide his feelings about but lauded Ortom for the initiative.
While urging the Governor to beat his chest for achieving such feat,Senator Gyado called on critics of the administration to exercise patience as programmes being rolled out to actualise the five point agenda were indicative of noble plans for the People.
Senator Gyado therefore, urged Governor Ortom to consolidate on the good things his government was doing, saying the position of Professor Hagher at the forum that a committee be set up to look into salaries of State Civil Servants and come up with recommendations should be taken seriously.
On perceived underground plans to reconcile Governor Ortom with his predecessor Dr.Gabriel Suswam by some stakeholders,Senator Gyado said such was a welcome development so long as it was for the collective interest of the State.
Senator Gyado maintained that every Governor with genuine concern for progress of his State would seek to unite the People for the good of all and urged all well meaning People of the State to support any move that could bring sustained progress.
