Otukpo the pride of Idoma Nation was listed to benefit from a multi million naira investment by the Nigerian Army.

By this decision of the Nigerian Army, Otukpo became the only local government in Nigeria which is not a capital city to benefit from the Scheme.
It is noted that the Nigerian Army has 28 estates in 16 States across Nigeria including Makurdi.

It will be recalled that a vast portion of land was allocated for the project by the Otukpo Local Government Area Council under the leadership of Hon. George Alli as SOLAD and compensation has since been paid on the said land by the Nigerian Army.

In line with keeping up with the local content requirement of every construction activities carried out by the Nigerian Army, an Otukpo based construction firm was engaged to undertake the clearing of the vast land which is currently ongoing as shown in the above photographs. The clearing work is expected to be concluded in about 2 weeks.

Already, the layout plan of the estate is being conceptualised and will accomodate modern estate facilities including basic infrastructure like roads, drainages, light, water etc. Other notable features of the estate shall include schools, commercial areas, sports facilities etc.

In spite of the laudable plans by the Nigeria Army to build a model estate in Benue State, it can only work if the people of the area take advantage of the scheme and make it work by subscribing and allow themselves to be a part of it.

I will like to encourage those who are interested in being a part of the scheme to visit the offical website of the Nigerian Army Post Service Housing Development Limited by following this http://phdscheme.com.

For artisans in the area who are interested in taking advantage of available job opportunities, you don’t need a good Father to be engaged, just call the official phone line of PHD on 09094366059, during offical working hours and give your details or send an email to phdarmy@gmail.com.

The next stage of the work after clearing is fencing of the estate comprising about 500 plots of land.

A lot of persons have been asking, how can we benefit and how can we be a part of it? The Nigerian Army Post Service Service Housing Scheme is designed to reintegrate military personal who have served their fatherland meritoriously back into the society after living in the barracks all their lives.

Hence the scheme is meant for both interested military personnel and vetted civilians. This means that anyone interested in buying either a house or empty land can apply and will be considered.

The benefits of subscribing to the scheme is that all Army estates are known for security, genuine title and facilities that are enduring. Let me encourage all Nigerians especially the Idomas living in the diaspora to invest in this project.

I hope you get to make up your mind soon.
