Idoma-born Com­missioner of Police in Anam­bra State, Sam Okaula retires at 60

A crime fighter, Mr Garba Baba Umar, is the new Com­missioner of Police Anam­bra State.

 His predecessor, Mr Sam Okaula, who retired at the age of 60 this June handed over to the new police boss, in a colourful ceremony.
Umar assumed office at the headquarters of the state Police Command, Awka, and was received by the management of the Command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in- charge of Ad­ministration and Finance, DCP Sokari Pedro.

The arrival of the new Police Commissioner was celebrated by a Guard of Honour, mounted by the police at the headquarters.

It was preceded by a for­mal handover by his prede­cessor, Mr Sam Okaula at the Commissioner’s office.

The new police boss who hails from Kaduna State, served in Bauchi State as the immediate past state Commissioner of police before his new posting to Anambra State.

In his speech, the new Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, disclosed that the people of the state de­serve their right to peace and tranquility, adding that no amount of threat from any quarter, would under­mine the quality of life they had been enjoying in the state.
