History has repeated itself after a son of Kenyan immigrant, Barack Obama, won the Presidential election to became the 44th President of the United States, the first black man to rule American.
Today, Minister for Social Protection, Loe Varadkar a son of Indian immigrant will replace outgoing Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny, after winning Fine Gael leadership contest.

Varadkar is the immediate boss of Idoma-born philanthropist and activist, Hon. Samuel Udeh.

Leo Varadkar, 38, who has become Ireland’s Prime Minister-elect after winning an internal party election has given another hope that prejudice has no hold in this 21st century.

Leo Varadkar’s victory in the Fine Gael leadership contest on Friday, which took place after outgoing PM Enda Kenny announced his resignation last month, marks another significant step torward equality not just in the Ireland but the whole world

According to Udeh who works directly with the new Prime Minister-elect, his kids could one day lead in Irish Republic or any where else as he said the world now look up to character and abilities than the sentimentality of one's race, sex and background

Prime Minister, Varadkar, 38, will also become the country’s youngest leader, and the first from an ethnic minority background. His position will be confirmed later this month when parliament resumes after the break.

Varadkar faced a stiffer-than-expected challenge in the centre-right Fine Gael election from his rival, Simon Coveney. The Cork-born Irish Housing Minister is popular with the party’s grassroots, particularly in Fine Gael’s more conservative, rural redoubts.

Speaking after the final votes were tallied in Dublin, Varadkar said he was delighted, humbled and honoured to win.

Okpokwu son Mr Samuel Uwakwe Udeh worked with Minister Varadkar as his Constituency Representative in Dublin West at the Department of Social Protection.

What is not clear now is whether Mr Udeh will follow him to his new office or the Department of Social Protection will keep him waiting for the new Minister as it has been the culture of the Department.

IDOMA VOICE reports that Udeh is warming up to contest the Okpokwu State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly in 2019.
