Tiv sons are being kicked out of federal appointments with no one to protect them – Suswam cries out

“When I became governor in 2007 I saw that the Tiv nation was grossly lacking in political leaders who had national influence, those with the influence to fight for the interest of our people at the federal level. I therefore considered that I needed to support Akume to rise and build influence as a nationa figure, so I deliberately avoided probing into his past tenure as Governor before me.”
“I did my best to right some of the wrongs of his administration and forged ahead with development of the state, despite the many shortcomings I met on ground.

I did my best to fight for the interest of the state and the Tiv nation and by the time I was leaving office as Governor our people had a strong representation in some of the prime federal establishments.”

“Today those who have the responsibility and authority to fight for the interest of our people are rather more concerned with fighting to bring Suswam down. They boast openly that they must send Suswam to prison and make sure he is finished.”
“But while this is happening, what is the fate of the Tiv nation? Tiv sons are being kicked out of federal appointments with no one to protect them. Where I used to sit with the president to defend the interest of our people, no one has access to the presidency today. We are being castrated systematically, yet our major pre-occupation is to bring get down a fellow Tiv man. How can we be so blinded by selfish political interests, while Nigeria is steadily leaving us behind?
-Rt. Hon. Gabriel Torwua Suswam, PhD, CON,
Fmr. Governor, Benue State.
