OPINION: Partisan de-alignment in the Benue State PDP

Written By Idoma Television on Monday, September 11, 2017 | 11:03:00 PM

It is disheartening and unfortunate that some nuisances who are masquerading amongst party's  faithfuls as members of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have beginning to indulge in partisan de-alignment as against the run of play which is a threat to reconciliation, bonds of common course and commitment which hopefully will lead   to the party victory in 2019.

The same was held onto both by political and public analysts as the sole factor responsible for the party's defeat in 2015.
The grotesqueness as displayed by the Ijigban PDP ward exco, Ado L.G.A  of Benue state branch of the party at a grand embellishment event amidst celebration by chieftains and supporters of the party as Dr. Sunday Onah, former Boss of the council, Hon. Oriri Ocheje Richard, a chairmanship aspirant in the most recent council poll and former Secretary of the council, Hon.Sunday Edeh, Comrade Onwe Joseph, Comrade Eji Godwin, Hon. Nelson Idor, Mrs. Helen Inawo, Mrs. Edeh Linda, Mrs. Okpekwu Rachael with thousand of their supports rejoined the party (PDP).

However the ward exco of the party in ( Ijigban ward) headed by Christopher Edeh (Ward Chairman) took to absenteeism as none of them was at the event except the ward P.R.O of the party whom dashed in at a point whereas there was a meeting between the leader and delegates from those rejoining the party where date, time and venue of the grand event ware agreed upon days before the event which was described by both politicians and the public as an end to APC in Ari zone, comprising of three (3) political wards.

The action of the ward party exco  was  seen as show of mockery and disdain for the party which is anti partisan politics and it's practices in entirety especially at a time when the party leadership at all levels  in their wisdom are working heads, hands and legs, day in, day out to strategize, re-strategize and reposition the party for 2019 "Change the changed".

This act is incongruent with the vision, mission and ideology of the party hence a total flagrancy against the party, therefore,  the ward exco and whose ever is behind this ugly rise against the party should be brought to book immediately so as to act as a deterrent to them and others. "Our party has gone through difficult period. This should
be seen as a learning curve. All hands must be on deck to reposition the party to rescue Nigeria at this critical moment.

It is a sacrifice incumbent upon every one party member who believes that  our Great Party is the only one capable of actualizing Nigeria's manifest destiny as Africa's greatest nation".

An extract from the speech of high chief, Sen. Ben Ndi Obi CON, FNIPR
PDP Secretary, National Caretaker Committee at the PDP non- elective convention, Eagle square, FCT Abuja.

Their attitudes toward partisan politics and political practice are mundane , barbaric, unrefined, unguided, unacceptable, parochial and a negation of what is obtainable anywhere around us not to talk of when the party  is reaching out and realigning back with aggrieved party members who left previously and wooing for new membership in the build up to the 2019 elections... Change the change.

There is a political conspiracy by the ward exco and whosoever planted and behind them is against the prosperity of the party.

They are rather there for destruction than building and repositioning the party for victory in 2019 Change the change.

They lack political will, psychological myth, social status and economic wellbeing to function in that capacity at the ward level.

If this flagrant misconduct is not properly checked, handled and dealt with immediately, the common bonds and unity, passion and commitment of members stand the risk and threat of been weaken.

I appeal to the constituted authority of the party to investigate the matter and ensure that Justice prevail.

They should be replaced with party men and women who possessed the required prerequisites to function in that capacity if found guilty for their action.

Comrade Onwe Edwin Wisdom.
