Stop anointing your children, family members as successors – Enenche warns Nigerian pastors

Ace comedian and public commentator, Enenche Obonyi Peter, otherwise known as Enenche Enenche, has warned spiritual fathers in the country against anointing their children and family members as successors in the ministry.

Enenche said it is wrong for a pastor to hand over the mantle of leadership to his ‘uncalled’ son, wife or family member, who does not posses the quality to lead the congregation.
The renowned writer was reacting to the recent programme in Lagos where Evangelist Reinhard Bonke anointed his successor Daniel Kolenda.
He said, “Mind you, the name is Daniel Kolenda and not “Daniel Bonke”. Pulpit handlers take note.
“When a man sees ministry as God’s work and not family business, it is easy to take a bold step like this.
This part of the world, fathers downplay spiritual sons and project biological sons, they clear the way for their children to takeover by all means.
“Watch such ministries, they hardly survive second generation.
“Jesus the Head of the church had His biological brother James as one of his disciples, but when He left the leadership of the early church fell on Peter.
“Nothing is wrong for a family member to takeover the headship of a ministry, but everything is wrong if such move is done excluding God, the Owner of such ministry.
“If you as a leader, you never raised successor outside family circle, the only person that can takeover from you must be a family member, you have failed. Your vision has every tenet to die with you.
Most times, many men have killed their vision even before their death… If visions must live beyond our grave, we must allow the Owner of all Godly visions to have the final say.”
