Director of Media & Publicity, APC Benue State, Comrade Apeh Peterhot has congratulated the entire Idoma community over the appointment of Justice Adam Onum as Chief Judge of the State after 41 years of the State’s existence, saying it is better late than never.

In the congratulatory message made available to journalists in Makurdi Friday afternoon, Comr. Apeh Peterhot said it is a welcome development and indelibly historical that for the first time since creation of the State in 1976, someone from the Idoma ethnic extraction is considered worthy of the position.

Apeh said only under APC government with its “CHANGE” agenda can such a feat be achieved in the State.

He enjoined the Idoma community to be grateful to God and to Governor Samuel Ortom who made this appointment possible after 41 years of the detestably vicious marginalization of the Idoma community in the State’s socioeconomic and political affairs.

He also called on the entire Zone C senatorial district, especially the Idoma community to support Governor Samuel Ortom’s second term ambition while maintaining that more will come if the incumbent governor is returned elected in the forthcoming 2019 general elections as plans are on the way to install an Idoma as governor of the State at the expiration of Dr. Ortom’s second term in 2023.

Apeh in the message said he acquiesced and acceded to the pronouncement of the Tiv community through one of its most respected elder statesman, Dr. Paul Unongo, who made it publicly clear at a recent town hall meeting in Makurdi that the State’s machineries would be handed over to an Idoma as Governor Samuel Ortom’s successor in 2023.

“Once we begin to play according to the tenets of real democracy and validate its core principle of fair sharing, peace, development and unhindered progress would always greet the State. We must understand that Benue belongs to us all and the onus of setting the State machineries on the right path lies on us all. It does not matter whether you’re Tiv or Idoma or Igede or Ufia but we must work together to bring about a better, strongly united Benue that we all can be proud of.” The statement read in part

Comr. Apeh said be believes the intellectually benevolent Justice Adam Onum has the capacity to deliver on the numerous but unvarying responsibilities his new office is saddled with.
