Angered by the incessant killings in Benue State, a frontline gubernatorial aspirant, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, has decried the killings of innocent people in Benue state, describing it as politics taken to far.

Ogenyi, in a condolence message to the catholic community in the State condemned, in its entirety, the continued murder of innocent indigenes by militias.

This is coming on a day the state is billed to hold a mass burial for those who were massacred in a Catholic Church in the State. The killings, of which two priests were casualties have attracted wide condemnation, prompting the Catholic Church to hold a mass protest today.

According to the governorship hopeful, the killings had to stop, as human lives could not be compared to any political game, locally or internationally.

“Human lives have never been taken this cheap in a terrorist-free zone like Benue”, he said, adding that “with the recent information available to government and the security agencies, the killers are well known and should be brought to book without delay.”

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the two priests and seventeen parishioners billed to be buried today.

He called on the government not to spare anyone involved in the killing no matter how highly placed he is as he advocate for proper probe of the killings in the State.
