Tragedy: How truck crushed two lecturers, 5 others to death in Benue (Photos)

No fewer than seven persons on Saturday 10th October, 2020 lost their lives in a fatal motor accident that occurred at Gbatse community along Ugbema-Adikpo road in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue state.

Two lecturers from University of Mkar were among the seven killed in the accident which happened at about 3:pm, IDOMA VOICE reports.

According to an eye-witness, a trailer truck ran into a stationary Toyota car with registration number MKD-300-NH thereby crushing seven passengers to death.

Report said driver of the truck purchased a fairly used car and kept it aboard and was about dodging a police check-point when he pinched the on-waiting car killing all the occupants.

 

It took the police and other good spirited individuals over five hours to evacuate the dead beings squeezed under the truck.

The Executive Chairman of Ushongo local government, Hon. Asawa Joseph had to cut short at a reception in honour of his Guma counterpart and state chairman of ALGON, Hon. Caleb Abba from Makurdi to rush to the scene of the accident.

He directed that bodies of the victims be deposited at Ostra Gum Hospital at Ushongo town.

A searched on some documents recovered from scene of the accident identified two University of Mkar Lecturers in persons of Mr. Leva Joshua of Mass Communication Department and Moses Tarnongo as victims of the accident.

A Zenith ATM Card found on one of the bodies also identified Adaa I. Blessing as one of the victims.
