1. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has charged the 23 newly sworn-in Council Chairmen in the State to carry everyone along in running the administration of their respective local governments.

The Governor gave the charge on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 while inaugurating the elected local government Chairmen at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

2. Despite criticisms that trailed the emergence of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, the party leadership in the state has said the cleric remains the candidate of the party in the state.
Unveiling the party’s governorship candidate on Tuesday in Makurdi, the state party chairman, Austin Agada, said contrary to the incessant propaganda raised by the PDP-led government in the state, Alia remains the party’s standard bearer.

3. The death toll arising from the attack on the people of Ojiogu and Okpochiri Ukwagba Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Wednesday rose to 18 in number.
Investigation revealed that the affected Communities were attacked by Ezzas within the boundary area between Ebonyi and Benue States.

4. Thomas Kwagh-Kudi, member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Makurdi North, has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Kwagh-Kudi alongside six other staunch members of the APC from the constituency on Tuesday announced their defection to the PDP when they met with Governor Samuel Ortom at Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

5. Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Wednesday accused some leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of romancing with the federal government to repeal the state open grazing prohibition and ranching establishment law.
He alleged that leaders of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue had at several fora expressed their desire to repeal the grazing law his administration enacted to stem armed herdsmen attacks in the state.

6. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are jittery over the APC governorship candidate, that Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iornem Alia, hence their resort to allegations about his membership of the party.
The opposition party in Benue State stated this while describing PDP’s allegation that APC does not have a governorship candidate for the 2023 election as the handiwork of idle minds and mischief makers.

7. South West Queens of Lagos on Wednesday in Abuja defeated Benue Amazons 3-0 in the ongoing 2022 Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) Super League.
In the matches they played previously at the competition, South West Queens had lost three and drawn one matches so far, while Benue Amazons lost all four matches.

8. The Benue State Police Command has arrested a police sergeant, James Aondona, over the death of a trailer driver, Aondohumba Terkula.
The policeman had on Sunday allegedly shot the driver for refusing to part with money demanded by cops at a roadblock along Katsina-Ala.

9. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Wednesday linked the killings in the state to the Federal Government.

Ortom alleged that the Federal Government sent “people” to kill farmers in the state.

10. Defence Headquarters says the troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested four kidnappers, neutralised three bandits and rescued a kidnapped victim in recent operations in parts of Benue.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Bernard Onyeuko, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
